Japanese Invasion Money JIM WWII World War 2 Issue
Front Description:
Genuine historical banknote issued by the Central Bank of Manchukuo (滿洲中央銀行), denominated 100 Yuan (百圓), from the Japanese-controlled state of Manchukuo in north-east China. Intaglio (engraved) printing in dark brown/black on a pale tan and green guilloche underprint, produced by the Printing Bureau of the Cabinet of the Empire of Japan (per the Chinese imprint at the foot).
The bank name 滿洲中央銀行 (Mǎnzhōu Zhōngyāng Yínháng — Central Bank of Manchukuo) runs across the top centre, reading right to left, beneath a stylised floral/star emblem. The denomination 百圓 (One Hundred Yuan) appears in large characters at centre, with 圓 (yuan) in the ornamental corner medallions at upper left and upper right, and “100 YUAN” in English on black panels at lower left and lower right.
The left vignette is an engraved view of a grand traditional Chinese palace hall with a sweeping tiled double roof, set behind a broad stone terrace and balustrade with trees in the foreground. At right is a finely engraved portrait bust of a long-bearded elderly sage in traditional robes and headdress, generally identified as Confucius.
Flanking the design at both sides are large engraved dragons rendered amid clouds, filling the full height of the left and right borders.
The serial number “0101256” appears in red at the upper left and again at the lower right, with the red block number “1” at the upper right and lower left. Two red official seal chops in seal script sit at the lower centre, captioned 總裁 (Governor) at left and 總理 (President/Director-General) at right. The printer’s credit at the very bottom reads 大日本帝國內閣印刷局造 (Made by the Printing Bureau of the Cabinet of the Empire of Japan).
Condition (technical): heavily circulated, approximately Good to Very Good grade. Multiple folds and creasing, extensive edge fraying and chipping with small losses along all edges, corner wear and a notch at the right edge, overall soiling and toning, and paper softness. Design remains fully legible.
Back Description:
Printed in deep red/maroon intaglio on a pale tan ground. The bank name 滿洲中央銀行 appears across the upper centre, reading right to left, beneath a white eight-pointed star/floral emblem set in an ornate scrolled cartouche.
The central vignette is an engraved view of a massive stone city wall or fortification stretching across the composition, with a procession of figures, horse-drawn carts and travellers passing along the road at its base, and hills visible behind.
The denomination “100” appears in large numerals at the right of the vignette and again at the lower left, with 百圓 (One Hundred Yuan) in a panel at the lower right. The whole is framed by elaborate scrolling foliate engraving.
At the lower centre is a boxed panel of Chinese text giving the legal authority for the issue: 此票依據滿洲國政府於大同元年六月十一日施行之敕令第二十五號貨幣法而發行者 (This note is issued in accordance with the Currency Law, Imperial Edict No. 25, promulgated by the Government of Manchukuo on the 11th day of the 6th month of the first year of Datong).
Light blue ink marks appear at the upper right edge. Edge wear, chipping, toning and soiling are visible throughout.

Note: Coins & Banknotes Grading
- Please
closely inspect the photos to understand the condition of the coins or
banknotes before proceeding with your purchase, as grading can be
subjective and varies from person to person. - Please do not place too much hope on grading companies to grade the notes accurately, as they can be notoriously inconsistent.
- Different graders have different opinions, eye factors, and knowledge that influence the final grading.
- Even grading companies do not guarantee that you will get the outcome of your desired grading.
- If
you have any questions or require additional information, I am more
than happy to assist. Please feel free to contact me anytime.

We offer combined shipping for all banknotes. To take advantage of this
offer, please add the items to your cart together and only proceed to
checkout once you are ready to pay. The combined shipping is calculated
at the checkout page. Please do not pay for items individually, as the
shipping costs will not be combined that way. - Customs, Duty, Tariff Fees: Buyers are responsible for any applicable customs, duty or tariff fees.
- International Shipping:
Shipping duration can vary, typically ranging from 14 to 60 business
days for standard delivery. Please be aware that these shipping times
are estimates and depend on the operational efficiencies of the shipping
companies, which we cannot control. - Postage Costs:
Please note that international shipping via Australia Post is not
cheap. We strive to keep the shipping costs as low as possible,
sometimes even absorbing a portion of the costs. All orders are sent
with end-to-end tracking for safety and reliability. - Untracked Shipping Requests:
If a buyer insists on requesting an untracked, cheaper shipping option,
we reserve the right to grant or refuse the request. If untracked
shipping is granted, please be aware that we have no way of tracking the
mail, and the buyer is strictly responsible for any losses in transit. - Tracking and Logistics:
Please check Australia Post for tracking status. Since we do not own
Australia Post, we have absolutely no control over their handling times
and methods. Australia is a huge continent, and logistics are
challenging, coupled with one of the highest minimum wages in the world,
making costs and operations tough. Please check with your postal
service or local post offices if any unattended mail notes are left, as
we absolutely can’t control that remotely.
Customer Conduct
- Please be respectful when communicating with us. We do not tolerate abusive behaviour from buyers.
- If you do not agree with the postage cost or any other terms, please refrain from making a purchase.
