Title
c. 1960s Singapore American International Building Robinson Road Postcard
Description (Front)
Colour postcard showing the American International Building on Robinson Road, Singapore, a striking example of mid-20th-century international modernist architecture. The building features a tall rectangular tower with a uniform grid of square windows forming a curtain-wall façade, emphasising vertical scale and corporate modernity. At street level, a solid podium bears the engraved signage “American International Insurance Co. Ltd.” along with the company emblem, identifying the building as the regional headquarters of AIG. Adjacent structures include rounded and louvred façades typical of 1950s–1960s commercial office design in Singapore’s central business district. The clean lines, concrete framing, and repetitive window modules reflect post-war urban redevelopment and Singapore’s emergence as a financial and insurance hub.
