Estimated Era: Late 1960s to early 1970s, consistent with the SAS DC-9 Super series introduction period and the classic early SAS livery style shown.

Airline Status: SAS Scandinavian Airlines still operates today, having restructured through bankruptcy protection in 2022–2024. The McDonnell Douglas DC-9 type has been fully retired from commercial passenger service worldwide.

Front Description: A colour photograph taken from ground level beside a runway showing a SAS Scandinavian Airlines McDonnell Douglas DC-9 Super series narrow-body jetliner at the moment of rotation and initial climb during take-off. The aircraft is captured lifting its nose wheel clear of the runway while the main undercarriage wheels are still just above the tarmac surface, with the runway stretching behind it. The aircraft is in the classic early SAS livery — a white fuselage with a thin gold or yellow pinstripe cheatline running the full length just below window level, with a broad teal-blue lower cheatline below. “SCANDINAVIAN” is partially visible in dark lettering on the upper forward fuselage.
